Calculation of Piano Moving Costs

The cost of moving a piano generally calculated based on the following factors:

Piano Type and Size
In order to quote an accurate cost for moving a piano, providing the type of piano you required us to transport, i.e an Upright or Grand Piano. If describing your piano as “regular” or “standard” doesn’t provide sufficient information to calculate the appropriate charges.
To determine the size of your piano, measuring for Upright piano by its overall height from the floor to the very top of the lid or Grand piano by its overall length from one end of the keyboard all the way to the end of the piano’s curve.
With all this information, we are able to arrange necessary manpower or working team that needed for the move as well as what equipment will be required to be used.

Upright pianos are measured by their overall height, from the floor to the very top of the lid. Measurements for upright pianos can be given in centimeters or inches.

Grand pianos are measured by their overall length (all grand pianos are approximately the same height and width, so you only need to measure length). Close the lid of the piano completely when measuring, from one end of the keyboard to the end of the piano’s curve. The accuracy is to get the longest measurement of your grand piano and it can be given in centimeters or feet.

Distance to Destination
By providing the exact address for both collection and delivery location where you want to have it moved, this would allow us to quote an appropriate moving fee. Taking into consideration of fuel, distance and labor costs will make a difference in the cost of your piano moving.

Lift Landing or Ground Level
Having both locations to be lift accessible to residence’s unit level or ground to ground floor does not incur additional or extra charges on the piano moving cost, unless the instrument required to be lifted up and carried through the staircases.

Obstacles to Moving
The cost of moving a piano increases dramatically when there are obstacles in the moving path. Such as staircase, short steps or narrow stairway and tight spaces are examples of obstacles that complicate move and increase its cost.
Piano moving risk is huge when traversing more than four consecutive steps because then you will have to actually carry the piano, not just tip and ease it up or down. The danger and the risk of carrying piano are extremely high that it will be advisable to be done by professionals.
Before providing with an accurate moving quote, we need to know what to expect in the way of obstacles throughout the moving path. When it comes to stairs, be sure to specify:
-
The number of steps
-
Indoor or outdoor stairs
-
Type of stairs (straight or spiral)
-
The number of tight turns
Additionally, by providing images of the piano or the staircase might be a better option for our references or any details that would help us to get a better understanding on how to handle the move with the least amount of problems and stress.
